MIAMI, FL (WAFB) - Tropical Storm Fred continued to move farther away from the northwestern Cape Verde Islands on Tuesday and it is expected to weaken more over the next two days.
The National Hurricane Center reported at 7 a.m. that Fred was located at 18.2 North, 26.5 West, or about 225 miles northwest of the Cape Verde Islands.
Maximum sustained winds were at 65 mph and the storm was moving west-northwest at 12 mph. All tropical storm warnings for the Cape Verde Islands have been discontinued.

Forecasters expect Fred to continue moving to the west-northwest or northwest over the next couple of days and weaken gradually during the next 48 hours.
