ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Three people, including a volunteer firefighter, have been arrested for allegedly throwing full, one-gallon water jugs at cars in Ascension Parish.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported it began receiving several reports Saturday evening from drivers claiming their vehicles were damaged from someone throwing water jugs at them as they were driving.

Deputies arrested Layne Goodman, 18, Chance Lambert, 19, and a boy on Sunday. Because he is a minor, the name and age of the third suspect was not released.

Chief Wayne Hill of the Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department released the following statement via Facebook:

Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department is appalled at finding out one of our firefighters was arrested for allegedly being a part of the aggravated criminal damage to property. This firefighter is being suspended immediately pending investigation by APSO. Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department hopes the community affected realize that these types of actions by volunteers do NOT represent the Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department's mission. Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department has a NO-Tolerance policy when it comes to arrests and in no way condones this type of behavior of ANY of its firefighters, medical personnel and members.

Authorities did not report which of the suspects is a volunteer firefighter.

Victims said the incidents happened at night and the suspects turned on their bright lights when a vehicle approached. They added that is when the gallon jug of water was thrown. The impact of the full gallon jug will shatter a windshield and can spray glass shards into the vehicle.

One incident happened on LA 61. A woman, her husband and two small children were in the vehicle when it happened. Deputies found the jug not far from the scene of impact. Another incident happened on LA 42 in Ascension Parish about three weeks prior.

The investigation is ongoing.
