BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A teenager has been arrested in connection with more than 70 vehicle burglaries over the last week.
17-year-old Damien Kelly was arrested and charged with multiple counts of theft, simple burglary, and simple criminal damage to property. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office says that all of the robberies happened from July 31 to August 5.
According to EBRSO officials, all of the burglaries occurred in the late night and early morning hours in the parking lots of hotels and apartment complexes. Kelly and other suspects would allegedly commit several burglaries at a time in the same parking lot. Witnesses saw the burglary suspects leave the scene in cars found to be stolen from areas that authorities were investigating. Officials found that the suspects were stealing and replacing license plates as well.

Kelly was booked into a parish prison, and a bond has not yet been set.
