BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Police have arrested a man suspected of using stolen credit cards and identity theft.
Police arrested 40-year-old Avriste Terrelle West August 9 at the Marriott Hotel in the 5500 block of Hilton Street. Detectives say they located West at the hotel after receiving information that he was using a stolen credit card to pay for a room there.
Upon further investigation, police learned that West was also using alias ids and counterfeit credit cards.
Detectives confiscated several counterfeit access device tools such as an Apple iPad, PayPal swiping devices, blank credit cards, an external storage device, credit cards listed to unknown individuals, tax returns and a card swiper.
West was also in possession of a stolen vehicle at the time of his arrest.
West was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he was charged with monetary instrument abuse, access device fraud, felony theft, identity theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Bond for West has been set for $102,000.
