Unless you work in the medical profession, you don't often get the chance to help save a life. This weekend, we can give you that chance. Whether you are a serious runner who enjoys the competition or someone who likes a good walk. We invite you to take part in the "Susan G. Komen race for the Cure" this Saturday. It's gives serious runners the chance to compete in a 5-k race for some great prizes. For the less ambitious, there is also a one mile fun run. Walkers are welcome for either distance. You can go to

and sign up for the event or meet at 7 o'clock Saturday morning in front of the Old Governor's Mansion to register. It's a great event for the whole family. But the name of the race is a reminder that this is also serious business. The founder of the race lost her sister Susan G. Komen, to breast cancer at age 36. 75 percent of registration fees will be used right here in the Baton Rouge area to fight the disease and treat those who have it. I'll be there along with breast cancer survivors and the coach of the number one ranked LSU Lady Tigers. I hope you join us as we lend our legs and our money to a cause that could wipe out a killer.
