IOWA, LA (WAFB) -

Family, friends and colleagues will gather for a prayer vigil to remember a Louisiana State Trooper Tuesday.

The vigil to remember State Trooper Steven Vincent will take place at the Iowa High School football stadium in Iowa, LA at 6:30 p.m.

Vincent was killed while responding to a call about a man driving erratically just outside of Lake Charles. When he attempted to assist the driver of the vehicle who had driven into a ditch, the driver, 54-year-old Kevin Daigle, stepped out of the vehicle and shot Vincent. A passerby managed to subdue Daigle until police arrived.

All members of law enforcement and first responders have been asked to wear their uniforms to the prayer vigil and will sit in a place of honor on the football field.

Among the speakers planned for the vigil are several clergy members and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso.
