Baton Rouge house fire under investigation, owner treated for smoke inhalation

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Fire Department is investigating a house fire that started Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out to a house fire in the 2600 block of Michelli Drive at just around 4 p.m. Neighbors were the first to notice smoke coming from the home and went over to help the home owner, who had been affected by the smoke, out of a window.

When the firefighters arrived, the fire was coming from the front of the house. It took about an hour and a half to get the fire under control. The house sustained heavy damage from the fire and smoke.

The owner of the house was taken to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire is under investigating, but no foul play is suspected, according to Mark Miles with BRFD.
