BRPD: Man arrested after shooting his cousin

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Police have arrested a man they shot his cousin Sunday morning.

Police say they received a call about a shooting at 8:45 a.m. in the 3700 block of East Brookstown Drive.

When police arrived, they learned that a victim had been shot multiple times and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Investigators say when they questioned the victim at the hospital, he told them that he had been shot by his cousin, 22-year-old Dedrick Johnson.

When police contacted Johnson, he admitted that he and the victim had gotten into an argument which led to the shooting. After the shooting, police say Johnson fled the scene and did not offer any aid to the victim.

Johnson was arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder and criminal damage to property.

Bond for Johnson has been set at $94,000.
