BRPD investigating early morning armed robbery at Circle K

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Baton Rouge Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened early Saturday morning. 

Police say the robbery happened just before 4 a.m. at a Circle K in the 5300 block of Highland Road. 

According to detectives the suspect entered the store with a handgun and demanded money. He then fled the store with a small amount of money.

The suspect was seen on surveillance video leaving the scene in a small grey vehicle, possibly a Volkswagen Jetta.   

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 5 feet 6 inches, 170 pounds, unshaven face, wearing a white baseball cap, a grey short sleeve shirt, blue jeans and dark colored shoes. 

Police believe that this suspect may also be responsible for the armed robbery of a Whitney bank on Bluebonnet Boulevard Saturday morning.  

Both robberies remain under investigation.
