LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Deputies have arrested a man from Tickfaw, LA and charged him with attempted second degree murder after his son was shot three times in Livingston Parish Thursday evening.
Just after 7 p.m., deputies with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office were called to Deer Lake Trail, an undeveloped subdivision north of Albany. They immediately placed 56-year-old Anthony Vicknair, Sr. under arrest after learning he shot his son multiple times, according to a news release from the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say the victim was able to drive himself to the hospital after being shot in the chest, head and hand areas. He is listed in stable condition.
Detectives found the handgun used in the shooting at the scene.
Sheriff Jason Ard says, "We have learned through our investigation that Vicknair, Sr. and his son have had a violent past. As for what sparked last night's shooting – that is still unclear. We do know five shots were fired. Three hit the victim – injuring his chest, head and hand areas. This investigation continues."
Vicknair Sr. was arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder. No bond has been set at this time.
