Police said a young man not old enough to do so was drinking in the street early Friday morning and was found with drugs on him.

The Thibodaux Police Department reported Victor Bimah, 19, of Thibodaux, was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on charges of possession of MDMA, possession of alcohol under 21 and violation of city ordinance drinking in public/open container. His bond was set at $5,200.

Police Chief Scott Silverii said officers reported seeing Bimah standing on St. Philip Street at West 2nd Street drinking alcohol around 1 a.m. He also said Bimah ignored police and continued to drink. He added Bimah told the officers he didn’t have an ID on him and that he was 21.

Investigators said Bimah later told the officers he was not 21 and that he had an ID in his wallet. They added a pill fell out when he started taking things from his pockets and it turned out to be ecstasy. The officers reported finding other ecstasy pills on him.

At that point, Bimah was placed under arrest.
