Trial underway for former police officer charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile

GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - A former Sorrento and Gonzales police officer will be in court Wednesday on charges stemming from an alleged inappropriate relationship with a juvenile.

35-year-old Owen Ockman faces a single count of indecent behavior with a juvenile.

According to the indictment, the alleged acts happened from May 1, 2009 until Aug. 31, 2011. Ockman was arrested in Ascension Parish on July 10, 2013. He posted a $7,500 bond and was released the same day.

Ockman was indicted on the charge more than two years ago. His trial has already been delayed a few times this year.

Jury selection was initially scheduled to begin in January, but Ockman's attorney was out sick. Proceedings were then scheduled to resume on March 17, but were delayed.
