ST. JAMES PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A major deal in St. James Parish is expected to lead to the constructions of a $2 billion plant and hundreds of jobs.
Vuhuang Chemicals out of China reportedly completed a purchase of 1,300 acres.
The methanol manufacturing site is expected to be located somewhere along the Mississippi River. It is the only bit of information that's been released about the location.
Construction is reportedly scheduled to begin next year and the plant should be operational by 2018.
The company will reportedly hire 400 permanent employees and it is estimated the project will create 2,300 indirect jobs in the area.
