BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Have you ever caught a fish and wish you could take it to your favorite restaurant and have them cook it up for you?
Well, now you can. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has created a "catch and cook" program.
Thanks to a measure passed during the 2014 Legislative Session, restaurants with the proper permit are allowed to cook up certain fresh-caught fish for the customers who bring it to them.
Restaurants don't have to pay for the permit and they set their own price customers must pay to have their own fish cooked by the chef.
So far, more than a dozen restaurants, including Galatoire's in the French Quarter, have signed up for the program.
