THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) - Police Chief Scott Silverii has announced he will be retiring on August 28, 2015. After a 25-year law enforcement career, he said his decision to retire was simply based on faith.
"God led me to take the position of chief five years ago, and now that I've accomplished the goals I set out to achieve, I feel He's leading me to start a new chapter in my life," he stated.
Silverii was first sworn in as Thibodaux's Chief in January 2011.
Thibodaux Mayor Tommy Eschete said, "Scott's commitment to data based policing, improved technology and communications paved the way for our police department to become a model of efficiency for all small law enforcement agencies in our state."
Chief Silverii said, "It's been a blessing to serve as Chief of Police in my hometown. I look forward to remaining active in the community. Thank you all for trusting in your police, especially at a time when those bonds are strained nationwide. We've something special here and I'm proud to be a part of it."
