BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Nearly 6,000 customers of EATEL were without service much of the day Tuesday. EATEL Vice President of Marketing Matt Wallace says a utility company doing work in Galvez accidentally cut through an EATEL fiber line.
The cut disabled TV, internet, and in some cases, telephone service for both homes and businesses.
Wallace said they do not have an estimate on when all customers will be back online. "We've had crews on the ground since it happened to restore it and we'll work around the clock until it is restored," Wallace said.
As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, about 2,500 customers remained without service, mainly in the Galvez area, the spokesman said.
