OUR TURN: Officer LaValley

. - (Air: August 11, 2015)

He was a humble, young man who did not want to be the center of attention, but this past week, he was.

Friends, family members and fellow law enforcement officers from all over the state and nation focused their thoughts and prayers on 29-year-old Thomas LaValley. LaValley was murdered last week in Shreveport, doing the job he loved. By all accounts, he was a fine officer – a person who went above and beyond the call of duty, caring for the citizens of the community he served. LaValley was from St. Amant in Ascension Parish and people who knew him said that his love for his family there knew no bounds.

Thomas LaValley reminds all of us what a noble profession law enforcement is. The risks that these brave men and women take on our behalf every day are a great gift to each and every one of us. We owe them our gratitude, and in the case of Officer LaValley, we owe him our undying gratitude.

That's "Our Turn." Now, it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to yourturn@wafb.com.
