BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The air conditioner at McKinley High School has been fixed after certain parts of it was broken Monday. School officials say they will run the AC in an attempt to cool the buildings down before school Tuesday.
No classes will not be affected. They will all resume as scheduled on Tuesday.
When it was broken, school officials said parents could come pick up their child(ren) if they would like. However, they did not do an early dismissal, so if a child needed to ride a school bus to get home, they had to wait until the end of the day.
School officials moved the students into areas where the air conditioner was working as they crew worked on the air conditioning unit.
Also, the Baton Rouge Fire Department confirmed that there was a very minor grass fire on the school's football field. It was unrelated to the air conditioning issue. No one was injured and the fire was put out very quickly.
