BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Monday is Breastfeeding Law Awareness Day.
Mayor Kip Holden recognizes the tribute to nursing moms in Baton Rouge on August 10 every year.
Parents gathered Monday morning in the gardens outside the Louisiana State Capitol to promote breastfeeding in public.
They hope to inspire Idaho, which is the only state without laws to protect nursing mothers.
"So, we're trying to get some fire lit under their chairs to get the state legislature to do what Louisiana has done," Adrienne Laurent, the event organizer, said.
She wants Idaho to allow mothers to breastfeed their children anywhere they are able to be in public.
