East Baton Rouge students going back to school jumped back into learning a little easier with help from the Baton Rouge Police.
Area leaders woke up early to hand out backpacks filled with school supplies at BRAVE's Back-To-School Extravaganza on Saturday.The event was held at Family and Youth Service Center on Government Street. Parents and their children enjoyed snacks, prizes, and entertainment including a K9 demonstration
District Attorney Hillar Moore hopes the student's excitement lasts the entire school year. "Hopefully the kids will take this into the school year, impressed when kids commit to attend school every day," says Moore. "That commitment will hopefully help us in the long run."
The first day of school in Baker, Zachary, and Ascension Parish, will take place on Monday, August 10.
