Fallen Shreveport Police Officer Thomas LaValley will be heading to his final resting place in Ascension Parish on Saturday.
LaValley was fatally shot Wednesday night while in the line of duty. A suspect in the case was arrested on Thursday and is being charged with first degree murder.
State troopers escorted Officer LaValley's body out of Shreveport at 10:30 a.m. at the start of his funeral procession.
The anticipated route is as follows:
I-49 South from Murphy Street
Proceed south on I-49 to US 190 @ Opelousas, LA - Exit 19
US 190 east to I-110 in East Baton Rouge
I-110 to I-10 east
I-10 to LA 73 - Exit 173
LA 73 to LA 621
LA 621 to US 61 (Airline Hwy)
Troopers from each Louisiana State Police troop will relay the procession to I-10 in Gonzales. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. with visitation will resuming Monday morning at 8:30.
The funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, after which Officer LaValley will be laid to rest.
