A new report from Standard and Poor's says that Louisiana's economy is giving the state a chance to grow even more.
The agency reinforced Louisiana's current AA credit rating. The report says that BP's oil settlement is a positive influence on the economy and long term state prospects.
Commissioner Kristy Nichols says that the report is encouraging. "S&P's report recognizes our progress in improving the structure of the state's budget," said Nichols. "Today's affirmation is great news for the people of Louisiana."
The commissioner's office says that the rating is Louisiana's strongest in 20 years.
