IBERVILLE PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

According to Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi, Candy Latiolais and Michael Duncan went to the Iberville Parish Jail on Friday as visitors but were arrested when they were caught using drugs.

Deputies say Latiolais walked into the lobby at the Iberville Parish Jail and went into the women’s bathroom. Deputies on duty found her behavior to be peculiar and entered the bathroom to investigate. Court documents say Latiolais was found injecting narcotics into her arm.

Deputies then went into the public parking lot of the jail to secure the vehicle that Latiolais arrived in and found Michael Duncan sitting in the vehicle preparing narcotics for injection.

"We may never know or understand the reason why these two offenders chose to come onto the jail premises and blatantly break the law," said Sheriff Stassi in a news release.

The two were arrested and booked into jail.

Candy Latiolais, 34 of Plaquemine, was arrested for possession of schedule II narcotics and introduction of contraband.

Michael Duncan, 31 of Plaquemine, was arrested for possession of schedule II narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
