BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A rally in North Baton Rouge aimed to decrease violence by coming together as a community.
The rally took over BREC Park on Evangeline Street Saturday afternoon. Police say that the surrounding area has been plagued by violence. Attendees held hands, and sang songs to signify coming together.
"I'm trying to get a movement going to stop the beef in the street," said one speaker. "You know, there's a lot of killing going on with these youth, and I just felt like I needed to come out here and try to do my part with this program going on here."
Organizers of the event say that there are going to be many more events like this in North Baton Rouge.
