BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge is prepping for the new school year by giving families needed school supplies.
From 10 a.m. to 1, the Salvation Army's Back-to-School Bash event will take place on August 1 at the Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge's Corps Center at 7361 Airline Highway.
The event will see backpacks filled with school supplies will be given to families at area community service buildings. Locations include the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, Baton Rouge Fire Department, and I Care will be included in the giveaways.
The Back-to-School Bash will also see wellness agencies like Metro Health, La Chip, Louisiana Center for Eyes, and Just Kids Dental providing complimentary services.
"Any time we can get other organizations under the same roof to work together for the betterment of our community is a good day," says Captain Brett Meredith.
