BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Friday will be a grim reminder for one family mourning the loss of loved ones.
Relatives will hold a vigil for Brittney Mills, 29, of Baton Rouge, and her baby, Brenton Mills.
Friday would have been Brittney Mills's 30th birthday. The vigil will be held at Heavenly Gates on Veteran's Memorial Boulevard. It starts at 6 p.m.
Detectives believe a man asked to use Mills's car on April 24, but shot and killed her in the doorway of her apartment when she refused. She was rushed to the hospital where she later died.
She was eight months pregnant at the time. Doctors managed to save the unborn child for a while, but he died a few days later.
Nearly three months after the murders, investigators have still made no arrests in the case.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
