Lions picked to finish second and third in the Southland Conference

LAKE CHARLES, LA (WAFB) - Southeastern University has been picked by the league coaches to finish second in the Southland Conference this season and third by the sports information directors.

In 2014, Southeastern advanced to the Division I postseason for the second consecutive year and returns 13 starters and 46 letterwinners this season to a team that shared the conference crown with Sam Houston at 7-1 in league play.

Leading the way for the Lions is senior running back/return specialist Xavier Roberson, a preseason all-conference selection.

Sam Houston State, which won its sixth league title last season, was picked as the favorite heading into the 2015 season as voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors.
