Teacher accused of sex with students pleads not guilty to all charges

PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) - A teacher accused of having sex with students pleaded not guilty to all charges Wednesday morning.

Keavin Keith, 30, of Plaquemine, was indicted by a grand jury earlier in the month on five counts of felony carnal knowledge and 30 counts of prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student.

A motions hearing is scheduled for November 10. A trial date has not been set. Keith remains free on bond.

The Iberville Parish District Attorney's Office said if convicted Keith could face up to 50 years and 6 months behind bars.

According to Sheriff Brett Stassi Sr., one of Keith's former students reported the two of them had a sexual relationship while she was still a student at MSA-West Academy, where he was a teacher. Keith was arrested later that night.

Stassi also stated the investigation revealed Keith was allegedly having sexual relations with two other students. The alleged victims are 15 and 16 years old.

The sheriff added the results from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab showed Keith fathered the child of one of the victims associated with the investigation.
