Danny Zardon and Grayson Byrd have both decided to leave the LSU baseball program.
Head coach Paul Mainieri said on Monday that Zardon will transfer to Nova Southeastern, a junior college in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mainieri said the junior infielder wanted assurance he would be an every day player next season and the head coach told him he could not do that.
Zardon hit .288 with five doubles, three home runs and 23 RBI last season for the Tigers.
Grayson Byrd, son of pitching great Paul Byrd, is also leaving the Tiger baseball team. Mainieri is unsure where the sophomore will play next year.
Byrd hit .212 with 9 RBI last season for LSU.
