BAKER, LA (WAFB) - Authorities have not been able to positively identify or determine the cause of death of a woman whose body was found in a car in a parking lot Wednesday.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office reported the body found outside a Walmart on Plank Road in Baker has extensive decomposition. It is believed her body was likely in the car for several days before being discovered.
Officials said they will do a DNA comparison to try to positively identify her. It is unknown how long the forensic identification process will take.
The coroner said the initial autopsy showed no obvious signs of trauma on the body. A toxicology test is being performed, which could take up to several weeks for the results.
Investigators said the car the woman was found in is linked to a recent missing person's report being investigated by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
