Man tells plain clothes detective 'I've got a gun, give me my money'

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A plain clothes detective with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office was in an unmarked police unit in a parking lot in the 2100 block of S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. Saturday when 45-year-old Eric Jason Robinson told him "I've got a gun, give me my money," according to a probable cause affidavit.

The deputy states Robinson reached for something with his right hand. Assuming it was a weapon, the deputy identified himself as a deputy and Robinson drove off.

The deputy called for additional backup units, and followed Robinson until he stopped at a house in the 10000 block of Black Oak.

Robinson was taken into custody. During the investigation, a Hi-Point 9mm pistol was found in Robinson's vehicle.

Robinson told police he thought the vehicle belonged to his girlfriend, and admitted to saying "give me my (expletive) money," but denied making any statements about having a gun.

Robinson was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he was charged with attempted first degree robbery and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
