Parolee found with illegal narcotics tries to convince officer it's deodorant

THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) - A man caught with ecstasy, crack cocaine, and other illegal narcotics tried to convince police officers it was deodorant during a stop on Sunday, July 19.

Just after 11:30 p.m., officers with the Thibodaux Police Department pulled over a vehicle for illegal window tint and not using a turn signal.

Public Information Officer David Melancon says 26-year-old Alfonzo Johnson told police he was on parole during the stop. Johnson has a lengthy criminal history including drug, burglary, battery and armed robbery charges.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office K9 Unit was called and officers were able to recover the illegal narcotics.

A police officer performed a field test on the "deodorant," and determined the substance to be cocaine.

He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he was released on a $9,050 bond. He was given a warning for the window tint.
