Troopers searching for suspect in hit-and-run that injured teen

LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Troopers with Louisiana State Police continue to search for a suspect in a hit and run case that hospitalized a 14-year-old pedestrian.

Just before 10 p.m. on Friday, July 17, two pedestrians were walking southbound on LA 43, north of LA 442 in Livingston Parish. At the same time, an unknown vehicle was traveling northbound on the same highway.

As the unknown vehicle attempted to pass another vehicle, it hit the 14-year-old pedestrian, made a U-turn, and fled the scene going southbound on LA 43.

Witnesses say the vehicle may be a dark, newer model GMC or Chevrolet pickup that could possibly have damage to its front end, and a broken left headlight.

The crash remains under investigation, but if you have any information regarding this incident, call Louisiana State Police Troop A at 225-754-8500.

Officials say the 14-year-old is out of critical condition, but is still in serious condition.
