BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A suspect in attempted murder case turned himself in to police due to pressure from a manhunt, according to the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office.
The search for Roderick Fields, 24, began on the weekend of July 12 after officials say he shot at two people in Bogalusa. Officials say that they were able to get tips on Fields' whereabouts when he was identified by a bystander in the Mizell Loop Road area of South Washington Parish on July 14.
During the manhunt, the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office posted Fields' picture on their Facebook page. This, combined with the pressure from the manhunt, forced Fields to turn himself in to the Bogalusa Police Department.
Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal says that they considered the suspect to be armed and dangerous. "The intense pressure of the officers who were thoroughly combing the roads of the parish, coupled with the Facebook posting, worked together to bring Fields into custody," said Seal.
Fields was booked and charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.
