BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana DOTD announced on Friday that they will be increasing the speed limit on portions of I-10 and I-12.
On Monday, July 20, road crews will begin installing speed limit signs that reflect the changes. The changes include:
- I-10 from Essen to Siegen from 60 mph to 65 mph
- I-12 from Sherwood to Range from 60 mph to 65 mph
- I-12 from Range to Walker from 60 mph to 70 mph
The improvements can be credited to the a 2014 study that helped determine new speed limits after projects were completed under the Geaux Wider Program, which aims to alleviate some traffic woes in Baton Rouge.
"Our study indicated it is reasonable and prudent to adjust the speed limits on these sections of the Interstate," said DOTD Secretary Sherri LeBas. "DOTD will work with state police and local law enforcement to closely monitor safety performance and compliance."
