BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators are searching for an arsonist after they say a house with two people inside was intentionally set on fire Thursday night.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on North Acadian Thruway East just after 10 p.m.
Mark Miles with BRFD said the homeowners heard a noise on the front porch and later noticed flames outside. They were able to escape unharmed.
According to reports, the front of the house was burning when firefighters arrived on the scene. Miles added the firemen were able to keep the flames from spreading beyond that area.
Authorities said there was significant fire and smoke damage to the house.
The Red Cross was called out to help the family.
