Shooting in park after fight leaves 1 dead, suspect arrested

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

One person is dead after a shooting during a fight Monday evening.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Dewayne Bazille, 27, was shot at BREC Expressway Park on South 11th Street around 7 p.m. He later died at the hospital.

Detectives arrested Trestan Coats, 22. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of manslaughter and illegal use of a weapon.

According to investigators, the two men got into a fight at the park and Coats allegedly shot Bazille once in the chest.

The shooting is still being investigated.

Anyone with information about it is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
