State Troopers identify man killed in Thursday night crash in Livingston Parish


Louisiana State Troopers have identified a man killed in an accident Thursday night in Livingston Parish. 

State Troopers have identified the man as 32-year-old Benjamin Ramos. 

State Police say the two vehicle accident happened at approximately 11 p.m. on LA 16 south of 4-H Club Road. 

According to an initial investigation, Ramos was traveling northbound on LA 16 at the same time another vehicle driven by 32-year-old John Bedford was traveling southbound on LA 16. For unknown reasons, Ramos' vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and and struck Bedford's vehicle head on. 

Despite wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, Ramos sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bedford and his passenger who were also wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident received serious injuries as a result of the crash. 

It is unknown if either driver was impaired at the time of the crash. Routine toxicology reports were taken from both drivers and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
