Troopers work to identify driver who died in head-on collision

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - Authorities are investigating a head-on collision that left one man dead and two other people seriously injured late Thursday night.

The driver who died in the crash has not yet been identified.

Louisiana State Police reported the wreck happened on LA 16 south of LA 1032 (4-H Club Road) around 11 p.m.

Tpr. Bryan Lee said the man who died was driving a 2003 Honda Odyssey that crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2012 Toyota Tundra.

Lee added all of the people involved in the crash were properly buckled, but despite having on a seatbelt, the driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner's Office.

According to Lee, the driver and passenger in the truck were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Troopers are working to identify the man who died in the crash. Anyone with information that could help troopers identify him should call 225-754-8500.

Investigators said they are not sure if impairment was a factor in the wreck. Blood samples were taken from both drivers and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

The investigation is ongoing.
