BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police said a man suspected of raping a 6-year-old girl in 2014 was arrested Thursday.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Terron Knox, 53, was booked on a charge of aggravated rape. No bond was set.
In Louisiana, conviction on a charge of aggravated rape in which the victim is under the age of 13 carries a mandatory life sentence.
Investigators said the Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) received a complaint in June about the alleged sexually assault.
According to the probable cause report, DCFS contacted police and the alleged victim identified Knox as the suspect.
Police said Knox was questioned at BRPD headquarters about the incident. He reportedly denied the allegations.
Authorities reported Knox has a previous arrest on his record on a charge of oral sexual battery. They added the incident involved a child.
Documents showed he has also been arrested in the past on charges of negligent homicide, felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, DWI, simple battery and simple burglary. The report did not indicate whether Knox was convicted of any of the charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
