BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A mother accused of "beating" her child for more than an hour faces abuse charges.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Renora Seaberry, 35, was arrested Thursday night. She was booked on a charge of cruelty to a juvenile. No bond was set.
According to the probable cause report, officers were called to an apartment on Avenue I Street due to a screaming child. Officers said the caller claimed Seaberry had been "beating" the child for more than an hour.
Police said the child had "severe bruising and swelling." They added the bruising was on both arms and there was also a large mark on the child's leg.
Investigators said the woman told them she hit the child on the arms and legs with a belt.
Officers described the injuries as "extreme and unjustifiable punishment."
