BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Baton Rouge police have arrested a suspect in the shooting of a man on Jefferson Avenue Monday night.

Police say 27-year-old Travis Thomas surrendered himself to authorities today after multiple calls to Crime Stoppers connected him to the shooting that left a 40-year-old man in critical condition.

According to police, the shooting happened just before 9 p.m. during a verbal dispute between Thomas and the victim. Witnesses say the victim was shot at least one time in the head.

Thomas will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he will be charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.
