BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU linebacker Kendell Beckwith and defensive back Jalen Mills have been named to the 2015 Bednarik Award watch list.

The Bednarik Award is given to the top defensive player in the country.

Beckwith took over the middle linebacker spot for LSU in week seven of the season and finished second on the team with 77 tackles. He also tallied 7.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks.

Mills enters his senior season at LSU with six interceptions, 186 tackles and three sacks. Mills has started every game of his career, including all 13 as a true freshman.

Beckwith and Mills will be key players and counted on heavily this season for a very talented defense.

Running back Leonard Fournette has been named to the 2015 Paul Hornung Award watch list, as well as Maxwell Award watch list.

LSU faces McNeese State in the season opener on Sept. 5 in Tiger Stadium.
