Water heater causes one alarm house fire

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Fire officials say that a water heater caused a one alarm house fire on the Fourth of July.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department says that the fire happened in the 5200 block of E. Brookstown at about 12:32 p.m.

Fire crews were able to get the fire under control within 10 minutes of arriving, but the fire did cause $20,000 in damages.

BRPD, EMS, and Red Cross were all at the scene to assist the affected family.
