For Downtown Baton Rouge, the day before the Fourth of July is kind of like what homeowners do before they have houseguests: they clean up.

On the Fourth, there will be plenty of company, leading up to the finale of booming fireworks.

"The levee steps have all been pressure washed, and they repainted all of the seats on top of the levee. It's all been freshened up," said Davis Rhorer with the Downtown Development District. "You know, I dont think people realize our steps can hold 60,000 people, so everyone gets a front row seat for the fireworks at night."

With events going on a majority of the day on Saturday, people should get to experience at least some of the Baton Rouge holiday flavor.

In the Town Square, the folks at the Jolie Pearl are excited and ready. This will be their first Fourth in Downtown Baton Rouge.

"It's just the people, they are amazing, said Maxx DJorghi, general manager of the Jolie Pearl. "Theres always something going on downtown. There's always an event, and we are very excited."

"Downtown is booming right now, and we have a lot of development here, said D’Jorghi. "Like new apartment buildings. The business is where it's at Downtown."

The Baton Rouge Concert Band will play some tunes at 7:30 p.m. before the fireworks start at 9 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free to the public.
