GEISMAR, LA (WAFB) - Students at Dutchtown High School will get a chance to start learning a well-paying trade before they graduate.

Ascension Public Schools and the Louisiana Construction Education Foundation, LCEF, announced the electrical training program on Tuesday.

"The benefit is the education and the opportunities and certifications these kids will earn free of charge," said Dutchtown principal Carli Francois.

Francois accepted a check from LCEF for $50,000 to start the program.
