BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) - The Tigers had one of the finest seasons ever in the university's baseball history, although falling a little short at the College World Series.

LSU finished No. 5 in the final USA Today and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association polls.

The Tigers ended the season with 54 wins and made it to the College World Series for the second time in the past three years.

Highly decorated shortstop Alex Bregman was the No. 2 pick in the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft and was one of eight Tigers picked in the draft.

Five Tigers received All-America recognition including Bregman, freshman pitcher Alex Lange, senior catcher Kade Scivicque, junior first baseman Chris Chinea and junior centerfielder Andrew Stevenson.

The Tigers did fall short at the end, but what a special journey they took to the 2015 College World Series.
