WASHINGTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Washington Parish officials say a man drowned in the Bouge Chitto River on Wednesday afternoon.

Edmund Adams, 32, was identified as the drowning victim. According to reports, Adams and a group of his friends were tubing on the river when Adams lost control of his tube and disappeared underwater.

The search began as soon as first responders got to the scene, but search efforts could not locate Adams' body and disbanded the search until officials were able to resume searching at 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

"I ask everyone to join with me in prayer for this wonderful family as they grieve over the loss of their son," says Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal.
