Severe thunderstorm warnings issued for several south Louisiana parishes

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for several parishes across South Louisiana Wednesday evening.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for West Baton Rouge Parish until 7:15 p.m.

A Flash Flood Warning was in effect for West and East Baton Rouge parishes until 10 p.m.

The First Alert Storm Team says some reports are approaching 4 inches of rain in about an hour.

Entergy reported scattered outages with over 6,500 people affected in East Baton Rouge at one point.

DEMCO also reported outages, mostly in East Feliciana Parish with about 900 people affected at one point and over 300 affected in St. Helena Parish.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office reported that the following streets were flooded:

  • Cedar Crest/Stanley Aubin
  • Essen between 1-12 to I10
  • Bluebonnet at the rail road tracks/Picardy
  • Essen/Summa
  • Sherwood Forest/Airline
  • Rue De Belle Maison

EBRSO also mentioned the lights being out on:

  • Frenchtown
  • 7900 Jefferson Hwy
  • Old Hammond/Sherwood Forest
  • Coursey/Southpark

Warnings were issued first for Washington, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa parishes that expired by 5:30 p.m. East Feliciana and St. Helena parishes were issued a warning that lasted until 6:15 p.m.
