BREAUX BRIDGE, LA (WAFB) -

Law enforcement officials said a shooting in St. Martin Parish left three people dead, including a child, and one person injured Tuesday night.

According to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office, 58-year-old Clifford Blanchard allegedly shot and killed his wife Leola Blanchard, 72, and his 3-year-old granddaughter Ashlynn Blanchard. The shooting happened at 1066 La Rue Angelle Rd. in Breaux Bridge.

Detectives said Clifford also shot his son, Scott Blanchard who is Ashlynn's father. His injuries were described as critical, but 9News was told he is recovering in the hospital. Investigators later learned Clifford was fatally wounded when Scott tried to take the gun away from him.

Deputies said the shooting may have stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Rust Clark, a neighbor, said there were signs that Clifford was violent.

"He didn't talk too much, but he was different. He got angry about everything. He was a very easily angry man," said Clark.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
